Dr. Gould is a clinical geropsychologist at the Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) at VA Palo Alto Health Care System, an Instructor (affiliated) in the Stanford University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and as a Principal Investigator with the Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research. She earned her Ph.D in psychology in 2011 at West Virginia University. She completed her psychology internship at VA Palo Alto Health Care System and an Advanced Fellowship in Geriatrics at the GRECC.

Her research focuses on improving our understanding of late-life anxiety symptoms and disorders. Her research program also aims to develop and test novel behavioral interventions for anxiety. She also investigates whether novel behavioral treatments can improve functioning in addition to reducing anxiety symptoms. Her current research program involves two studies testing a self-directed relaxation treatment as a treatment for anxiety disorders in adults aged 60 years and older. She is also interested in investigating older Veterans’ preferences for technology platforms used to deliver psychosocial treatment. She has received funding from the VA Rehab Research and Development (CDA) and from the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation (NARSAD).
